When to Call 911

911 is for people emergencies ONLY

WHEN TO CALL 9-1-1
To report a crime, a fire, a heart attack, or a serious injury requiring the immediate response of a Fire Truck, Ambulance, or Law Enforcement.

You witness or are the victim of a crime.
You smell smoke or see fire.
You witness or are involved in a serious accident.
There is an emergency illness or suspect poisoning.
There is any situation that is potentially dangerous and you are not sure who to call.

WHAT IF THERE'S A FIRE IN MY HOME?
Call 911 from a neighbors house, or your cell phone.  Do not use your telephone to call. Stay low, get out of the house immediately.

WHEN NOT TO CALL 9-1-1.
Not for road, travel, or weather information, littering, legal advice, phone numbers, or as a prank. For Non-Emergency situations call 332-2600.

If you would like to perform a “test 911 call on a telephone that you have pre-programmed to auto dial 911 or to test the GPS feature on your cell phone, please be sure to call 332-2600 first and ask the dispatcher if it is okay to do that before you dial 911.  The best time to make a “test call is during the evening or on a weekend.
